About
Livingjunee was created and is managed by Junee Community Centre. The Centre commenced operation in 1978 and has grown with the community for over 25 years. The Junee Community Centre supports community initiatives and provides leadership in community development. It also provides social support services to people who live in the Junee Shire. The reason for creating Livingjunee was two-fold:
- To take things organisations do, that we sometime take for granted, and celebrate and share it with the broarder community.
- To reclaim the impact globalisation has had upon rural areas by using technology to help support a brighter rural future.
The site is available free of charge to all community groups. It was developed so those groups can have a website that advertises who they are, when they meet, what activities or services they provide. In many cases, small organisations or groups don’t have the time or resources to develop their own website. Even if they do have the time, their return on exposure in the worldwideweb environment is limited because it stands alone disconnected to other like minded organisations.
Livingjunee was developed to ensure those who currently have an important role in providing community service or volunteering can actually do what they like doing, not be taken away from it to develop a website.
Livingjunee is unique. It collects a whole range of similar organisations to form critical mass that targets the end user. In this case, residents and visitors to Junee. Livingjunee is a one-stop shop that contains many websites, all of which work, and are formatted, the same - making navigation easy. The only difference being the rich texture in words and pictures of the individual organisations.
The Junee Community Centre has invested a good deal into this project and wants to ensure it has every opportunity to succeed. That’s why is has purchased two internet kiosks that will be placed and rotated around town in high profile positions so that people can’t miss the Livingjunee experience.
Livingjunee will only reach it’s full potential if community groups support it – so why wait - be a part of something special – add your organisation to the site and by doing so you’re adding value to the community that supports you.
